Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) is seeking a Legal Summer Trainee
The Legal Department within NIB, consisting of the General Counsel as Head of the Legal Department and 13 other persons (lawyers and support personnel), is in charge of the Bank's legal matters. The Legal Department is divided into three units based on the work performed by the lawyers: Lending, Treasury and Institutional & Administrative legal support. The Legal Department provides legal advice to the President and management, as well as the Bank's governing and supervisory bodies. In particular the Legal Department assists all other departments within the Bank in preparing agreements and other legal documentation and providing legal advice when needed.
The Department is looking for a Legal Summer Trainee for a period starting either from 1 May 2010 or 1 June 2010 until 31 August 2010. The main task of the Summer Trainee consists of assisting the lawyers in various legal matters related mainly to Lending and Institutional & Administrative legal support. The Summer Trainee will, among other things, prepare drafts, memoranda, handle correspondence, perform legal background research and assist in proof-reading. In addition, the Legal Summer Trainee shall perform certain administrative tasks within the Department.
The position requires a very good command of the English language. Other language skills are considered a benefit. Qualities like pro activeness, service-mindedness, flexibility and good cooperation skills are appreciated. A genuine interest in public international law and finance are preferable. We are also expecting the Trainee to have good command of the standard IT working tools. A minimum of two years of completed studies is required.
