White & Case is a leading and truly global law firm in Finland. Since our opening in Helsinki in 1992, we have advised Finnish clients on financial and transactional matters within Finland and around the world, and non-Finnish clients in their Finnish and Nordic region activities. Our clients benefit from having access to our first-tier Finnish law capabilities combined with the support of a full-service global law firm.
Our lawyers in Helsinki focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, bank finance and commercial real estate transactions. The level and complexity of our work consistently places us in the top tier of law firms in Finland.
Our success depends on recruiting and developing the best talent so that we can continue to offer the market-leading legal services that we are known for. As an associate or a trainee, you will have the opportunity to grow and learn as you work alongside colleagues who are leaders in their respective fields. You will be able to develop your skills through both practical experience and our training programs.
we are recruiting
Our Helsinki office offers law students an opportunity to gain experience and training from an international law firm through our trainee program. Typical assignments include legal drafting and research, translating, dealing with authorities and various other types of assignments related to international financial and transactional matters. Our trainee program runs for four months starting each January, May and September (please see our websites for the respective application dates). Our trainees work full-time. Law students interested in the trainee position should have finished the majority of their studies to maximize their benefit from the program.
We are recruiting associates for our mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and bank finance practice groups in Finland. We offer top-quality, internationally-oriented work in a global law firm with great colleagues, competitive compensation and benefits. Our lawyers work on the most challenging financial and transactional matters.
If you are an intrinsically motivated team player with a global mindset, the determination to succeed and the willingness to take charge of your career, we would like to hear from you. The ideal candidate is likely to have strong academic credentials, a curious mind, an open attitude and an eye for diplomacy backed by a genuine interest in international business and transactional project based work.
We welcome applications on an ongoing basis.
What kind of experience do you expect from the trainee candidates?
We expect the trainee candidates to be finalizing their studies and have some relevant work experience. However, previous experience from a law firm is not a requirement.
Required or favoured languages
We generally expect the trainee candidates to be fluent in English, given most of our work is carried out in English, and in Finnish and/or Swedish.
What kind of value do you put on grades?
We believe good grades are often indicators of ambition, persistency, enthusiasm and diligence, all qualities expected from our employees, and therefore an important factor in our recruitment process. However, we always consider each application as a whole as we value people who bring a wide variety of perspectives – there is no one archetype for a White & Case lawyer or trainee.
What else do you value in a employee?
